NAMM 2018
NAMM recently took place at the Anaheim Convention Center and oh my is it amazing! First off, parking for NAMM you would think it'd be difficult, luckily it's not at all what you'd think. Since it's right by California Adventure and Disneyland, there is parking everywhere. Getting your badges was a super easy process as well. They scan your ticket then a badge with your name gets printed and wham bam, you're in!
Now you have access to over a thousand... yes, I said a THOUSAND exhibits spread across 3 floors filled with guitars, drums, basically any and all instruments you could think of. Oh, but it's not just limited to instruments, there are businesses there that show off lighting, sound, stage equipment, DJ systems... to be honest, that's still only touching the surface. There are so many things to come across, it's quite heavenly.
There are also adjoining hotels, which add five extra levels of fun, that include the NAMM U Education Centers. The Education Centers are available to help with training opportunities in the industries. It's amazing to see what goes on and everywhere you look something is happening. They've got jam sessions, seminars, live performances and again, So. Much. More.
Outside, they have food trucks and a big stage where special guests will perform once the night starts coming to a close, which is about 6 PM. I'm not sure who performed on the stage every day, but I know OK GO and Lindsey Stirling did. How great right?
The Hilton Hotel even hosts some entertainment that takes place in the lobby all day long. So basically wherever you are or go, you're going to hear or see something exciting going on. While there, we even got to see Monte Pittman, who also plays guitar for Madonna, showing off his skills for Kemper Amps. If you're interested in Guitar, Bass, or Vocal lessons check out MontePittman.com. He does online lessons, so no matter where you are in the world, you can learn from a pro!
While running around, we also got to chat a bit with Aaron Pauley of Of Mice & Men. They've got a new album out and are currently on tour in support of it. It's called "DEFY" and you can check out all of the details HERE.
NAMM is a really great place to learn new things, meet new people, and have the chance for music to surround you in every way. If this interests you in any way and you have the opportunity to go... please do not miss out. It's pretty great!
NAMM is done here in California, but you still have a chance to attend if you're in or around Nashville. The convention will be making it's way the 28th through the 30th of June, so make sure to check it out!
